More experimentations, this time with this thing called open canvas, has yielded extremely random results dedicated to our wonderful choir :)
The purple one is the first work i have ever done using the programme...then i did the NYChoir rulezzz...
All done with a mouse and plenty of filters.
The programme is quite Okay, but...harder to use then photoshop and much less functions.
But while i want to use photoshop...my laptop can't support it >.< so i'll have to use the big computer...

Hi PPl!!! Yep, it's me again.

Currently:

No more 90th anniversary practices, when the whole choir is split up :( This means back to the old sectionals-then-combined-sectionals thing again. :) But now, the sec 4s are no longer with us D=
In other words...we HAVE TO JIAYOU!!!!!!!!!!!

Erm...oh yah. Something is happening to a few of the sop 1-ers!!!! Our names are CHANGING !!!! I am Chiachiacreepycrawlie now, then we have chrissybug, tzetzefly, loloant and huihuibeetle XD Anyone who wants to join in this crazy idea can follow these steps
1)Use a part of your name and repeat it or use a nickname
2) Add an insect name
3)Ensure that the names from step one and two are not repeated in another person's name
4)Announce it on THIS blog's tagboard!!!!
5) Ta-daaaa! You've got a new name!!!

Though probably only a few people will ever see this post. My pathetic attempt to liven up the "post" bit of this CHOIR blog.
This little post is an attempt to call out to people to tag/post. If 'people' even come to look at the blog...
I mean, there are days when I come here, to see that no one has even tagged. Then one day i spy a little tag, and i get so happy, only to have my heart sink back down the next few days.
Thx, people who have been coming n tagging. And those who haven't for ages, pls come back. We ARE a choir, and choir, as our seniors keep repeating themselves hoarse, is not just one person!

its like...2 hours plus ONLY! till our wonderful syf day(:
the day which we have waited for a very long time(kind of)

yea....
its the many days of hard work and process(the wonderful time we all spent together as a wonderful choir), that allows us to perform our best on stage for tt few minutes(around 10?)
yea...

so we must make full use of tt every minute, or even every second...
make the fullest out of it,
and make music come alive...
with our passion
and the voices of our very own...

we may not noe if we are gonna be the best or not,
but as long as we knew to us, we all put in a 101% effort,
we noe its the best(;

im seriously gonna tear very soon and its not even SYF yet. ANYWAY!
Whats impt on stage:
Always keep yourself relaxed. Its a MUST. Though its difficult.
Jaw n tongue must be relaxed as well.
Remember the voice u want to project. Ringing, focused and emotive.
Remember to smile.
Remember that you are telling your story and you wanna tell it the best to your audience.
Lastly, ALWAYS remember,

Well, i dunno how many's gonna see wadeva i wrote but yeah jia you everyone lolz!
Its like my last SYF and the sec 4's last. I dunno how bad or how good im supposed to feel about this.
Li Lin and Hui Ying (NY sec 4 in 05') smsed and called me respectively to tell me to jia you or more like..tell the choir to jia you. The seniors have faith in us pple, lotsa faith. im not just trying to say that they have faith in us to get the GWH but more like they are confident that we are gonna go up there and stun everyone with whatever that we've practised. Whatever we are gonna get, they are confident that we will walk away with satisfied expressions on both ours, and the audiences' faces.

I think for any performer, that is the most important thing. To juniors, as a senior, i wish that all of u feel that unison in the songs and feel the great sensation.Cos seriously, its been a long time since the last time i've felt that NYC is singing together as a choir in one voice and one heart.

To the my beloved batch mates, i believe that we've all felt this sensation before with our seniors and now as seniors, i believe we can feel it as well. All i pray for our batch is to leave NYC without any regrets. Or at least, for this SYF.

It's tomorrow. my heart's in a fluster, whether it's out of excitement of fear, I don't really know. One thing I know, I know we're going to make things good.

I'm listening to our recording now, and my hair is standing. I don't know if it's because we sound so darn good, or whether it's because of the acoustics, or because of my jittery-ness, half of me's anticipating tomorrow, to sing and show the judges what we've got, half of me's still worried, scared even, that we wouldn't be our best. We don't have to be the best, we just have to be our best.

Help I'm a blogger idiot.

But anyway hi this is Jane. It's 2 more days (or actually more like a day and a few hours) to the BIG DAY and I can't wait! It is the sec 3s first and last SYF with NYC and it really means alot to us. So we're all going to jia you together as one choir no matter the results because whatever they might be, we know we are a gwh choir.

So jia you everyone! NYC is love xD

Theres only two more days to syf and i think everyone is feeling the tension already.
For us sec 3s, it will be our first, and also the last SYF with NYC, and that in itself has a significance about it.

On that day, i believe, when we walk on stage in our panty-liner padded courtshoes, when we open our mouths(three fingers) and sing, we will stun the judges and amaze everybody with our voices, our harmonies, our chords, our actions, our smiles, our song.. and our presence as a whole, as Nanyang Choir.

Central judging isnt all about the results, its the process, the bonding, and the sheer joy of performing and more importantly, singing.

We can make it, we will make it.But even if we dont(touch wood touch wood) we will always know that we're a GWH choir at heart. :)

That said, we must still strive for that GWH!

i'm not good with words. but we don't need words to write about what this choir is capable of. we know, in our hearts, that we can create awesome music.

(: we are nanyang choir.

after performing on 25th, the judges will go: that was sheer music.

just believe it, and do it.

we've been a hell lot. all those sectionals, the combines, workshops, lunch practices. let it not come to naught. we've been through tense moments, periods of agony when for some queer reason we just cannot sing for nuts. sometimes we dread the monotony of drilling the same phrase over and over again. but don't let it discourage you. move on.

3 days till the day we've been putting in so much effort for. don't disappoint yourself by having a few lousy minutes on stage. let's make those few minutes a breathtaking and memorable performance that'll leave the judges gaping with awe.

i have been feeling ultra weird these few days. everytime i juz have to think
about syf and i start jumping about all inside me. or sometimes i really start
jumping on a chair if there's one beside me.

i'm getting really excited and nervous. but i believe nychoir can do it!

to me, it used to be a must to get gold with honours but
after reading jacqueline's post, i sorta realised that gold with honours is not
everything.

can you hear the caustic ticking of the clock. 3 more days the clock goes tick tock tick tock.

it's all very simple. a dose of sincerity, a pinch of love, an understanding of the music, and our smiles. just...we need to put the CHORDS right in MAMORU, and the DYNAMICS in COMO COMPONGO. and for everyone sang, just sing feeling more and more rejuvenated with each verse progression. it's all very simple. if we look at ms lim and smile from within, our music's gonna shineeee. and honours will be a bonus. the best thing out of this is the experience we get to share with all of us.

so. i'll just copy and paste what i want to say to you guys:

i'm finally feeling so alive after so so long!especially after today's practice, in the side audi door with the really good acoustics, i felt suddenly very emotional by the singing, like i've never sung before. and i could feel my eyes going "sparkly", as ms lim puts it. and occasionally i'd peek at yangzi or jiamin or yichan and just smile and bask in the happiness of singing.

SYF, really... is just simply SYF. i finally understood what's been troubling me these days. it's the conflict between my ideals and beliefs that's been irritating me. SYF is all about the challenge and somewhat a matter of pride and reputation. and me, being a person who has the greatest trouble putting down her pride, is going all out for this SYF. and i've become so obsessed with the Honours i've lost that emotion for singing, that raging desire to sing. to just, sing. but today i suddenly felt so open. unrestrained and somewhat free. even though i felt that my voice was a bit off today, and even though i still sighed exasperately when sop1s could not quite pitch to save their lives, i smiled in my heart. Cause i can feel that as a choir, we can see that we've gone a long way.

and when i look at jiamin yangzi yichan mel and myself, i also realise that we've gone a long way since handover. we may not be the perfect and best leaders, in fact we're still far from it. but at least we all know that now we have a common goal and purpose that's bonding us and forming a close pact between us. it's not the results that we'll attain on wednesday. it's the goal of becoming performers that have confidence, that have the passion to sing anything at anytime. to become a true nanyang chorister.

and i've never felt happier with choir.
